1. Who We Are

VisionRipe ("we", "our", or "the app") is a mobile application that uses AI vision technology to analyze the ripeness of fruits and vegetables and provide nutritional information. Our goal is to help reduce food waste.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the minimum information needed to operate the app:

• Photos you choose to scan — When you take a photo or select one from your library, the image is sent to our server and then to an AI analysis service (OpenAI) to determine ripeness. The image is used only for this analysis and is not stored on our servers after the response is returned.
• Scan history and produce plan (stored locally on your device) — Scan results, planned eating dates, completion status, and reminder preferences are stored only on your device. Local notifications are scheduled by your device and do not require an account or cloud synchronization.
• Limited website analytics — The published web version may collect privacy-conscious, aggregate usage events such as scans starting or completing and navigation interactions. These events do not include photos, filenames, scan results, free-form AI output, advertising identifiers, names, or contact information.

We do not collect:

• Names, email addresses, or any account information (there is no registration)
• Location data
• Device identifiers or advertising IDs
• Advertising profiles or cross-site tracking data

3. How We Use Your Information

The photos you scan are used exclusively to:

• Send to OpenAI's API for AI vision analysis of ripeness and nutritional content
• Return the analysis result to your device

We do not use your data for advertising or profiling. Limited website analytics, when enabled, are used only to understand feature reliability and improve the app.

4. Third-Party Services

VisionRipe uses the following third-party service to process your scans:

• OpenAI — Images are transmitted to OpenAI's API for vision-based analysis. OpenAI's use of data submitted via API is governed by their API Data Usage Policy, which states that API data is not used to train their models by default.

We do not share your data with any other third parties.

5. Camera & Photo Library Permissions

VisionRipe requests access to your device's camera and photo library solely to allow you to capture or select a photo of produce for analysis. We do not access, copy, or upload any photos other than the one you explicitly choose to scan.

5A. Notification Permission

If you enable ready-to-eat reminders, VisionRipe requests permission to send local notifications. Reminder schedules are created and stored on your device. You can disable reminders in the Plan screen or revoke notification permission in your device settings.

6. Data Retention

Photos submitted for analysis are processed in real time and are not retained on our servers. Scan history, produce plans, and reminder preferences remain on your device until you remove them or uninstall the app. Aggregate website analytics, when enabled, are retained according to the analytics service configuration.

7. Children's Privacy

VisionRipe does not knowingly collect any information from children under the age of 13. The app does not collect personal information from any users, including children.

8. Security

All data transmitted between the app and our server is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS. Since we do not store personal data or images on our servers, there is minimal risk of a data breach affecting your information.

9. Your Rights

Because VisionRipe does not collect or store personal information linked to you, there is typically no personal data for us to provide, correct, or delete. You can clear your local scan history at any time from within the app.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
